AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
By Reginald Givhan of Incidental Treasures, LLC
Surfing without a net! I don’t get upset very often. Most of the time it’s when I get called in to fix a computer that’s been running without virus protection. You know the situation where the trial subscription has expired and the owner didn’t think it was important enough to either renew or purchase another antivirus package. The call normally begins with, “My computer is really running slow. I’ve tried rebooting it and doing the normal Internet temporary files dump, etc. but it still is running slow. In fact it’s basically unusable. I need you to take a look at it for me.” Of course, when I run my cleaning tools it’s usually full of spyware, Trojans and viruses and the damage to system files has already been done. So for those of you in this situation or needing a good low cost anti-virus program I’d like to recommend Grisoft’s AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0.173. It has received a 5 star rating from CNET and is one of the site’s most popular utility downloads. It has all the popular features such as real-time protection, automatic updates and a secure location for handling infected files. Follow the link below and take a good look at this one! http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=conte...

I have the same experience and it is a very big group of people which is thinking Anti Virus Software is not important. There are so many free Application available, you have only to look for. AVG is one of them. I self use it on my Linux Computers.
I am using NOD 32 and I am very satisfied never used avg some how I feltAVG uses too much resources
I have used Avast for 2 years, AVG for 1 and now I have been using AntiVir for about 8 months. AntiVir is doing the job well and detects all kinds of viruses trying to enter, from scripts on a webpage to viruses embedded in zip files. It is by far the best/easiest to use. It does automatic updates that pops open an ad trying to get you to buy the full version. Its one bother I can deal with, because it lets me know it updated over the night. a simple click on OK and it goes away. Avast would expire after 1 year and didnt detect many viruses/scripts like AVG.

I prefer AVG. It isn't resource intensive on my system and is far better than anything store-bought.
