Malwarebytes: Great software for a great price! By Reginald Givhan It’s not very often that I come across a computer running an older version of a popular antivirus program but it happens. The problem this presents is that a majority of the older programs (as good as they are at protecting against viruses and Trojans) lack a component to deal with spyware and malware. One of the main considerations for upgrading those older programs may be the system requirements needed to run the newer version and the cost of the upgraded version. If either of these is holding you back from achieving complete system protection you might want to consider Malwarebytes’s Anti-Malware. First of all it’s free which is always a great price but free doesn’t always mean good. In this case though, the program is an awesome choice. The only difference between it and the full version excluding cost is the full version provides real time protection. Malwarebyte received cnet’s Editors’ Choice award April 2009. It provides a host of features (from the Malwarebytes.org website). Support for Windows 2000, XP, and Vista (32-bit and 64-bit). Light speed quick scanning. Ability to perform full scans for all drives. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Protection Module. (requires registration) Database updates released daily. Quarantine to hold threats and restore them at your convenience. Ignore list for both the scanner and Protection Module. Settings to enhance your Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware performance. A small list of extra utilities to help remove malware manually. Multi-lingual support. Works together with other anti-malware utilities. Command line support for quick scanning. Context menu integration to scan files on demand. Simply download and install. The interface is very user friendly including a component for updating the program and running system scans and removing suspected malware. It’s worth looking at.
