You Don't Exist! You Don’t Exist! I am often called upon to fix email issues on my family and friends computers. If I had to stop and think for a moment I’d say the number one complaint is too much spam email. When asked how the person was managing the problem, they most often reply by saying they simply scroll down to the bottom of the message and click the unsubscribe button if available. Adding, they will then include a quite lengthy request that the sender not send any more unsolicited email. I then give them the unpleasant news that they, in doing this, have just supplied the sender with a bona fide email address and have opened up the gates for more messages. A good rule of thumb to follow when you receive unsolicited email is to simply delete it. A large percentage of email is simply mass mailed with the hopes that someone will reply. A list is then generated from those persons replying which gives the sender a batch of genuine addresses they can then send targeted emails to. So remember, when it comes to unsolicited email, deleting them lets the sender know you don’t exist!
